Hot Press Parameters & Success Tips
Press quality is the outcome of balancing adhesive, temperature, pressure and dwell. Common focus points:
Adhesive & Spread Rate
- Adjust to line speed and core absorbency.
- Excess spread leaves marks; too little weakens bond.
Temperature & Pressure
- Follow a chart matched to species and panel thickness.
- Low pressure traps air; excessive pressure crushes fibers or causes surface ripple.
Dwell & Cooling
- Pulling early weakens adhesion.
- Controlled post‑press cooling and resting reduce internal stresses.
Sanding & Calibration
- Light calibration levels the surface; over‑sanding damages veneer.
Validating initial setup with small samples prevents surprises in serial production.
